Designed alongside the real 2022 F1 car, this model is a true joint effort that captures the new ground-effect era regulations.

A Model Designed Alongside the Real Car
Unlike most LEGO models, which copy a car that already exists, the Technic McLaren F1 was developed at the same time as the actual 2022 F1 challenger. The livery reflects the 2021 season, but the underlying architecture, the sweeping aerodynamics, the 18-inch wheels, and the V6 engine, was built to show off the major regulation changes coming in 2022. The Power Unit: The build starts at the rear with a working V6 cylinder engine featuring moving pistons, connected to the rear wheels through a functional differential.
Advanced Suspension: Next comes a complex push-rod suspension system front and rear, mirroring the real mechanics that keep an F1 car planted on track.
Chassis and Steering: The car's central spine includes functional steering, linking the cockpit's wheel to the front axle.
Aero Panels: The final stages add the papaya and blue body panels, finishing with the adjustable rear wing (DRS) and the Halo.
Why the 42141 Needs Protecting
With a footprint over 65cm long and exposed elements like the suspension wishbones and engine bay, this model is highly exposed to dust.
