The Minas Tirith Leak: What LEGO 11377 Means for Middle-earth Collectors

For over a decade, LEGO Middle-earth fans have watched the horizon, waiting for one beacon in particular. Since the original theme was retired, a single set has stayed the undisputed "Holy Grail" of what LEGO never built: Minas Tirith.

That wait may be over. Following a leak from the Billund Fan Media Days, reported by BricksUp, StoneWars, and Mark's Magic, we now have a blueprint for Set 11377. At a staggering 8,278 pieces, this is less a toy and more a monument to Tolkien's world.

1. The Numbers: A Heavyweight for Middle-earth

Start with the specs. At $599.99, the price-per-piece works out surprisingly well for a licensed Icons set. For comparison, Rivendell (10316) came in at 6,167 pieces. Minas Tirith is nearly 35% larger, which puts it among the 6 largest LEGO sets ever released.

For collectors, this is Rivendell-level ambition scaled up to a full siege-ready capital. It is the flagship release the fanbase has waited for since 2012.

2. The Design Choice: Hybrid Scale

LEGO's designers went with a Hybrid Scale for this one, a decision already sparking real debate among AFOLs:

Microscale Exterior: All seven rings of the city are captured with real architectural precision, using printed windows borrowed from the Neuschwanstein Castle set to keep the sense of scale.

Minifigure-Scale Interior: Turn the model around and the interior tells a different story. It includes the Houses of Healing, the Archives, and a full Throne Room with black-and-white pillars.

The "Tomato" Table: Yes, the leak confirms a dedicated dining area for Denethor. LEGO clearly knows its audience here, expect the memes.

3. The Minifigure Lineup

A $600 set lives or dies on its figures, and the 11377 lineup reads like a roster from the Battle of Pelennor Fields. Alongside the expected Shadowfax and Gandalf the White, the leak points to:

Gondor Soldiers: Four fully armored soldiers with new helmet molds and printed shields, good news for anyone who builds up an army.

King Aragorn & Arwen: Complete with the Crown of Gondor and an Elvish banner.

Denethor: The Steward of Gondor finally gets his own high-detail Icons figure, tragic meal accessories included.

4. Displaying the White City

As a mostly white model, Minas Tirith brings its own set of problems: dust and UV yellowing.

At 60cm tall and 36cm deep, it will not fit on a standard shelf. This is a set that needs a dedicated spot of its own.

Our take: To do justice to a 1:10-scale interior build like this, an enclosed acrylic display case is not an extra, it is insurance for the build.

UV Protection Matters Here: Good lighting brings out the architectural depth of a white model, but direct sunlight will dull the "White City" look within months.

The Dust Problem: With over 8,000 pieces and fine micro-detailing on the battlements, cleaning this with a brush alone is a losing battle. We are designing our upcoming 11377-specific case with 98% UV filtration to keep the White City looking the part.

5. Is It Worth $600?

If you missed out on the original run of LEGO Lord of the Rings, this looks like your second chance. It captures the scale of the films better than most MOCs could at this price. It is a piece built on nostalgia, a lesson in hybrid-scale design, and a centerpiece that will dominate any room it sits in.
