Phase 1: sturdy foundations. Since this set works as real bookends, stability matters most. You start with dense, weighted bases, effectively building two separate structures, the front half (head and paws) and the back half (tail and hind legs).
Phase 2: the inner workings. Building up from the base, Technic elements form a rigid spine so the bookends can hold real books without tipping. It's worth noting how much colourful internal bracing is hidden inside to provide that strength.
