The build: step-by-step construction
Building the 71847 is a masterclass in organic shaping and environmental design.
The scenic foundation: Unlike most sets, this build starts with the environmental stand. You lay down the water elements, plants and rockwork, complete with a small stream. Hidden in the scenery are heavy-duty Technic pins built to carry the weight of the dragon.
The lower body and legs: The dragon takes shape starting with its muscular, bright green legs. You build the midsection and the start of the tail, locking the beast securely into its rock foundation.
The intricate tail: The tail is a marvel of articulation. It is remarkably long, uses specialized green ridge pieces, and is designed to bend dynamically, weaving right between the trees on the base.
The torso and arms: The chest piece brings incredible detail. The torso is deliberately slanted and curved, giving the dragon a menacing, hunched posture. The arms follow, with a thick, "buff" design that makes the dragon look powerful.
