Red Bull RB20 vs Ferrari SF-24: How the Two LEGO F1 Cars Compare

March 1st was a big day for the LEGO Technic community

LEGO Technic released two 1:8 scale F1 cars on the same day: the 42206 Red Bull Racing RB20 and the 42207 Ferrari SF-24.

It's a bigger release than fans expected from LEGO, and it left plenty of us with a real question to answer.

As a LEGO fan, the obvious question is: which one is worth building first?

Looking at the Details

Look closely and the level of detail is genuinely impressive. We'd guess most fans will lean toward the 42207 Ferrari SF-24.

This set builds on the 2024 42171 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance car, pushing the design, building techniques, and overall concept further.

That said, the 42206 Red Bull Racing RB20 is just as complex and just as strong a LEGO Technic build.

On value, the RB20 has 1,639 parts, more than the 1,361 parts in the SF-24, at the same price point.

That works out to 278 extra bricks for your money.

A word of warning for your wallet:

These two are only the start of LEGO's F1 lineup. Smaller models covering all ten teams are set to roll out through March, so pace your spending accordingly.

A word on space too: each 1:8 scale model comes in at 58cm long. Plan out where it'll sit before you finish building, so you're not scrambling to find room for it afterward.
